East Walnut Street (east of Old Highway 63) has been identified as a street with traffic operating at speeds that are higher than desirable.
There will be a public hearing to discuss the proposed design of the East Walnut Street traffic calming project during the City Council meeting Monday, Dec. 2. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 701 E. Broadway.
The City of Columbia Public Works department held its second informal open house meeting concerning a potential traffic calming project on the streetSept. 30, 2024. Preliminary traffic calming plans were made available at the meeting and are in the Documents section of this page for review. Plans propose adding six new speed humps, in addition to the two that are already on East Walnut Street.
Comments on the plans were accepted through Monday, Oct. 14. All input received was taken into consideration as the design was developed.
