The Gans Creek Recreation Area capital improvement project was approved by the City Council on December 18, 2023. The scope of the project included the design and construction of a natural surface hiking & biking trail throughout the park. City Council approved the design/build process for the natural surface trail project and the design process has been completed by Nomad Trail Development. As part of the project at Gans Creek Recreation Area, the park master plan needs to be updated to show the 10.5 mile natural surface trail within the park. The trail will include 4.5 miles of green level trail (beginner), 4.5 miles of blue level trail (intermediate) and a 1.5 mile connector trail between the two loops.
The plans included with this page show the final proposed route of the trail as well as the wildlife buffer that will be placed on the south side of the park. Construction of the trail is scheduled to start in January 2025 and will be completed by October 2025.
