Public Works provides traffic calming solutions where appropriate in order to influence driver behavior and create more livable neighborhood streets. Manor Drive ranked fifth on the 2021 Neighborhood Traffic Management Program Scoresheet with a score of 76 out of 100.

In 2016, a sidewalk project was completed on Manor Drive, and as part of this project, traffic calming devices were installed on the north end of the street. These devices continue to work effectively to reduce the operating speeds on this portion of the roadway. However, on the southern portion of Manor Drive where traffic calming devices are not present, vehicle operating speeds are higher than desirable.

We intend to work closely with neighborhood residents to properly identify their concerns and then develop strategies to moderate traffic speeds and reduce the number and severity of potential collisions. It is the goal of Public Works to find ways to reduce traffic operating speed in the safest and most effective way possible.

The City of Columbia Public Works department held an informal open house informational meeting to provide information to area residents Wednesday, Nov. 9 from 6 to 7 p.m. in Conference Room 1A of City Hall, 701 E. Broadway. The date for a public hearing, to be held at an upcoming City Council meeting at City Hall, will be on Monday, March 6. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 701 E. Broadway.
