I'm sorry you are experiencing these concerns. If you are not able to get in touch with your apartment's security team, we encourage you to reach out to the Columbia Police Department at 3-1-1 for non-emergencies or 9-1-1 for emergencies so they can respond appropriately.

Share I couldn't find who to contact to comment on the East Walnut calming project. I won't be able to attend meeting tonight, I am disabled & homebound. I wanted to comment how excited I am this is being proposed, especially the speed reduction. I so hope this is approved. I live on Willow Way, the bike trail & Walmart are in my backyard. East Walnut ends in a cul-de-sac with a locked energency gate. It was never intended to be a through street, yet residents/large trucks end up cutting the chains & locks, leaving gate open. We've had huge box trucks & 18 wheelers get hung up in that intersection of East Walnut/Willow Way. I understand Lowe's is responcible (at least that is who I call) to maintain that small piece of property. It needs a sign stating no through traffic, emergency only. Part of the beauty of our tiny neighborhood is the double dead ends, One way in, one way out. Our crime rate doubled, problems with homeless we never had before, after the bike trail went in. But we've had to fight to keep East Walnut gated. May I suggest a sign on that gate would go a long way to help to preserve our neighborhood. Thank you for listening. Yvette cowans asked 3 months agoGood morning. Since these properties are managed by the Columbia Housing Authority, concerns should be sent to their office. If you have brought these concerns forward to the Housing Authority and they are still occurring, you can contact the Office of Neighborhood Services to report a problem. https://www.como.gov/neighborhood-services/

Seamoose7 asked 7 months agoThank you for your suggestion regarding the use of reflective materials in the City of Columbia's road lane paint. I can understand your concern about visibility during rainy nights. The City of Columbia Public Works department uses glass beads in its paint to provide a reflective surface and enhance visibility. Each year, our crews work hard to freshen up the lines on our roads, with many crews out performing this task now.
We appreciate your feedback, as we are always looking for ways to improve road safety for our residents. If you have any more questions or suggestions, or want to highlight a specific roadway that concerns you, please feel free to comment again and let us know.

Share Why don’t we have the proper lifting mechanism which is designed for our specific trash roll carts? The ‘lobster’ claw does not utilize the lift bars, instead it squeezes the container to lift it. This will only shorten the life of the carts resulting in a total dud in our efforts to reduce the need for plastic bags. on Facebook Share Why don’t we have the proper lifting mechanism which is designed for our specific trash roll carts? Chi Doe asked 8 months agoThank you for your question.
The roll carts that the City provided are constructed from durable material and are compatible with our trucks' automated sideloader arms. They are designed to last 10 years.
The lift mechanism is designed to increase reach and reduce time needed to dump the roll cart, making it more efficient for our crews.

Share I am a resident of the 3rd ward with a broken waterpipe under the slab foundation of my apt. My water bill is currently 1,217.00. The property is not owned by me yet I am responsible for this progressing bill. Due to the fact that the property owner has no financial expense, they have known about the breakage and are not attempting to correct this issue. Why am I the renter responsible for an ongoing problem that I have no control over. Why would the city create a responsibility for a renter that is surely the responsibility of the property manager/owner. This ordinance needs to be changed immediately to protect renters and/or leasers from accruing ridiculous expenses that are primarily the obligation of the property owner. Since November 2023 my water bill has primarily doubled monthly from $26.00 to $1,217.00 with no relief from the property manager. " I don't know" is not an acceptable response to this ongoing situation imposed on me and other renters/leasers by this ordinance, when I/we have not obligation to maintain water flow to any privately owned property outside the scope of the rental space. Thank You. Please respond with information about the link to this ordinance. on Facebook Share I am a resident of the 3rd ward with a broken waterpipe under the slab foundation of my apt.
