Consultation has concluded

At the Nov. 18 meeting, the Columbia City Council set December 16 for a public hearing to discuss the proposed sewer improvement project in the area of Rice Road, Twin Oak Drive and Boyd Lane.

The Utility is proposing to remove the privately-maintained sewer system for homeowners in the area and replace it with a new public sanitary sewer. These proposed improvements are part of the Utility’s Private Common Collector Elimination (PCCE) project, which started in 2008. Private common collectors are major sources of inflow and infiltration of stormwater into the sanitary sewer system. By replacing the outdated, private sewers and connecting these properties into the publicly-maintained sewer, the City can reduce the occurrence of backups and overflows.
