Consultation has concluded

The City of Columbia Sewer Utility appreciates everyone who provided input regarding the proposed sewer improvement project near Richmond Avenue.

The Utility is proposing to replace the privately maintained sewer system for property owners near Richmond Avenue and Tiger Avenue. The Utility will construct a public sanitary sewer to serve these customers.

These proposed improvements are part of the Utility’s Private Common Collector Elimination project, started in 2008. Private common collectors are major sources of inflow and infiltration of stormwater into the sewer system. By replacing the outdated, private sewers and connecting these properties to the publicly maintained sewer, the City can reduce the occurrence of backups and overflows.
