Consultation has concluded.

Update: In October 2023, a final report based on the findings of the audit was been created and posted to the Documents section of this page.

The City of Columbia Public Works department has contracted with CBB Transportation Engineers and Planners of Saint Louis, Missouri to lead a Road Safety Audit (RSA) for the Missouri State Route B/Paris Road corridor. This audit was performed on Route B starting from its intersection with Oakland Church Road and extending to its intersection with Business Loop 70 East.

Particular attention was paid to safe travel for vulnerable road users including people walking, people biking, seniors, motorcyclists and school age children. Also, as part of the City’s efforts to work towards Vision Zero objectives, the Road Safety Audit used a Safe Systems Approach. This type of approach is aimed at eliminating fatal and serious injuries for all road users, doing so through a holistic view of the road system that anticipates human mistakes and keeps impact energy on the human body at tolerable levels.

The audit was performed based on Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) guidelines for Road Safety Audits. City staff and MoDOT are working with CBB to compile crash data and traffic counts at major intersections along the corridor.

Key Intersections in the RSA corridor:

  • Route B & Oakland Church Road
  • Route B at Brown Station Road (north intersection)
  • Route B at Waco Road
  • Route B at US Highway 63
  • Route B at East Brown Station (south intersection)
  • Route B at Vandiver Drive/Oakland Gravel Rd at Vandiver Drive
  • Route B at Whitegate Drive/Heriford Road
  • Route B at Clark Lane
  • Paris Road at Business Loop 70 East
