At the Oct. 21 meeting, the Columbia City Council approved construction of a vehicle wash bay at the Columbia Landfill.
The proposed large vehicle wash bay facility will be a drive-through automated vehicle wash bay that will allow Solid Waste to routinely clean their refuse and recycling collection fleet in all weather conditions. It is anticipated that a routine fleet washing regimen will help reduce fleet maintenance costs, extend vehicle life and improve the overall safety of the collection operation.
The cost estimate for the project is $1,900,000 to be paid from Solid Waste Utility enterprise revenue funds.
Construction is expected to begin in Fiscal Year 2025.
