Consultation has concluded

There will be a public hearing to discuss the proposed design of the St. Charles Road sidewalk improvement project at the City Council meeting Monday, May 20. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers in City Hall, 701 E. Broadway.

The City of Columbia Public Works department is seeking feedback on a proposed sidewalk improvement project in the northern part of Columbia along the north side of East St. Charles Road between Clark Lane and Demaret Drive. The project design includes an 8-foot wide concrete sidewalk to fill in the sidewalk gap between the roundabout at Clark Lane and Lakewood Drive and the sidewalk near Demaret Drive. The project also includes a pedestrian crossing across East St. Charles Road at North Golf Boulevard.

Construction is currently scheduled to start in the summer of 2025. The improvement is a designated sidewalk project listed in the City's sidewalk master plan.

The City has hired McClure Engineering to provide planning and design for the improvement project. The total project budget for the improvements is approximately $709,150, which includes design, right-of-way acquisition, utility relocation and construction costs.

An interested parties meeting was held Wednesday, March 20, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Eliot Battle Elementary School, 2600 Battle Ave. The meeting was an open house-style meeting where residents were able to walk through a series of displays showing the proposed improvements. City staff and the McClure design team were present to answer questions and hear comments.

Members of the public may attend any open meeting. For requests for accommodations related to disability, please call 573.874.CITY (2489) or email City@CoMo.gov.
