The City of Columbia is conducting a Road Safety Audit (RSA) of the Business Loop between Stadium Boulevard and Eastland Circle. An RSA is a formal safety study that brings together engineers, planners and community members to identify ways to make a roadway safer for everyone who uses it. That includes drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, transit riders and people using mobility devices.

Through the RSA, the City and its consultant, CBB Transportation Engineers + Planners, will review existing traffic patterns, crash data and roadway conditions along the corridor. The goal is to recommend improvements that enhance safety, accessibility and comfort for all modes of transportation.

Community input is a key part of the process. Residents, commuters, and business owners are encouraged to share their experiences traveling the Business Loop. This could include challenges crossing the street, navigating driveways, biking to work or driving through the corridor.

A survey is also available for anyone who would like to provide feedback online. Your responses will help identify areas where safety improvements are most needed.

The first opportunity for public input will be at a community meeting from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, at the Boone Electric Cooperative Community Building, 1413 Rangeline St. More opportunities for feedback will follow as the study continues.
