New Electric Vehicle Chargers Coming to Columbia!

The City of Columbia Office of Sustainability is in the preliminary design phase to install electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at the following four locations:

  • Parking Garage at Short Street
  • Parking Garage at 5th and Walnut
  • Daniel Boone Regional Library’s parking lot on the north side of Broadway, and
  • Columbia Regional Airport parking lot.

These charging stations will be for the use of the general public and support the future electrification of the City of Columbia’s fleet. The charging stations will be installed within existing parking lot facilities or parking garage structures. Construction of the charging stations could begin as early as fall 2026 and be completed in 2027.

Columbia is expanding public EV charging to make it easier, cleaner, and more convenient for residents, workers and visitors to drive electric – supporting the City’s goals for a more sustainable community while improving mobility. Installing EV charging stations in these existing parking locations ensures charging is available in popular community destinations. For more information about the City’s sustainability goals, visit Columbia’s Climate Action Adaptation Plan at https://comoclimateaction.org/action-plan

This project is a collaborative effort between the City of Columbia, Columbia Public Library, and the Federal Highway Administration. Funding is provided by a federal grant as part of a larger effort to provide charging stations across Columbia.

Residents and interested parties are encouraged to review the project information on this page and submit comments for City staff to consider. A public open house about the project will be held from 4:30-6:30 pm on Tuesday, June 30 in the Friends Room of the Daniel Boone Regional Library at 100 W. Broadway in Columbia. City and consultant team staff will be available to share project information and answer questions. Comments and questions may also be submitted below.

Members of the public may attend any open meeting. For requests for accommodations related to disability, please call 573.874.CITY (2489) or email City@CoMo.gov. In order to assist staff in making the appropriate arrangements for your accommodation, please make your request as far in advance of the posted meeting date as possible.
