Consultation has concluded

The City of Columbia Public Works department is seeking feedback on a proposed improvement project on Garth Avenue. This project will include reconstruction of the pavement, curbs and existing sidewalk sections in various locations along Garth Avenue. The project may also include the construction of a sidewalk on the east side of Garth Avenue, filling in sidewalk gaps between Texas Avenue and Leslie Lane and between Craig Street and Thurman Street. Finally, the project will include an asphalt overlay along Garth Avenue between Texas Avenue and Thurman Street.

Construction on this project is currently scheduled to begin in the summer of 2025.

The Public Works department has scheduled an informal open house meeting concerning the Garth Avenue improvement project. This meeting will be held Tuesday, Aug. 8 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Parkade Baptist Church, 2102 N. Garth Ave. To access the meeting room, please park on the south side of the building and enter through the glass double doors. The purpose of this meeting is to present design concepts for the Garth Avenue improvement project.

At the open house, diagrams showing the design concepts will be available for public review, City engineering staff will be present to answer questions and a public comment form will be available if you have any comments for the City to consider.

Citizens can also leave comments or ask questions about the project below. Comments will be accepted through Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2023.
