A Steering Committee is developing a Strategic Plan focused on homelessness in our community. The Committee is seeking input from community members and organizations to gain a comprehensive understanding of the challenges, opportunities, and priorities that should help shape the Strategic Plan.
When creating the action steps, the Committee will consider primary and secondary data, community needs, and feasibility. The Committee will collect input from a variety of stakeholders, including individuals with lived experience, organizations that have direct connections with individuals experiencing homelessness, business owners, higher education institutions, and more.
The Steering Committee is seeking input from community members through engagement and surveys to help identify priorities, challenges, and opportunities that will inform the Strategic Plan and future community efforts to address homelessness. The public is invited to attend a community roundtable discussion on Thursday, Aug. 27, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the ARC, 1701 W. Ash St. Click the Key Dates tab on the right for more information and to register.
The Steering Committee will meet regularly to present its findings and action steps to the Columbia City Council and Boone County Commission.
The Steering Committee created the following vision statement for the project:
“A community sharing responsibility for preventing and ending homelessness through access to safe, stable housing options for everyone, meaningful trauma-informed support, and promoting public safety for all residents.”
