Walking between the Forum Shopping Center and nearby neighborhoods could soon be easier and safer. The City of Columbia Public Works department is proposing the addition of a sidewalk along the north side of Mills Drive, in the area just west of Forum Boulevard, to improve access for pedestrians.
The proposed project includes:
Construction of a sidewalk along the north side of Mills Drive between Forum Boulevard and Highridge Drive.
Construction or reconstruction of pedestrian curb ramps at intersections to meet accessibility standards.
An informal open house meeting will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8, at the Activity and Recreation Center (ARC), 1701 W. Ash St. City engineering staff will share design concepts, answer questions and gather public feedback. Project diagrams will be available for review, and a public comment form will be available at the meeting. We also encourage you to leave comments and questions below.
Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2027.
