New: There will be a public hearing to discuss the proposed design of the Mills Drive sidewalk project at the City Council meeting Monday, Dec. 1. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers in City Hall, 701 E. Broadway.
Walking between the Forum Shopping Center and nearby neighborhoods could soon be easier and safer. The City of Columbia Public Works department is proposing the addition of a sidewalk along the north side of Mills Drive, in the area just west of Forum Boulevard, to improve access for pedestrians.
The proposed project includes:
Construction of a sidewalk along the north side of Mills Drive between Forum Boulevard and Highridge Drive.
Construction or reconstruction of pedestrian curb ramps at intersections to meet accessibility standards.
An informal open house meeting was held Sept. 8, 2025, at the ARC. If approved, construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2027.
