The City of Columbia Sewer Utility appreciates the public's feedback on the proposed sewer rehabilitation project near Bear Creek.

The Sewer Utility has preliminary plans to rehabilitate sewer lines near Bear Creek and other designated areas. See the purple-highlighted areas on the project plans for detailed information.

The proposed method is trenchless and is less invasive than traditional methods. A contractor places a liner inside an aging pipe then blows steam to expand and harden the liner. The result is a reinforced pipe without a shovel breaking the dirt.

This page will be updated throughout the life cycle of the project. Please check back for any updates.

Are the sewer lines cleaned of roofs and debris first?

PILOT asked almost 2 years ago

If the proposed public sewer mains are rehabilitated, they will be:

    1. Cleaned of roots and debris.
    2. Television inspected using closed circuit TV (CCTV) equipment.
    3. Rehabilitated with a liner.
    4. CCTV inspected to ensure the rehabilitation work meets specifications.

Individual, private laterals are not rehabilitated with this project.
