Garden Drive traffic calming
There will be a public hearing concerning the Garden Drive traffic calming project at the City Council meeting Monday, Nov. 6. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 701 E. Broadway.
Interested parties meetings related to traffic calming on Garden Drive were held on April 10 and Aug. 9, 2023.
Members of the public may attend any open meeting. For requests for accommodations related to disability, please call 573.874.CITY (2489) or email City@CoMo.gov. In order to assist staff in making the appropriate arrangements for your accommodation, please make your request as far in advance of the posted meeting date as possible.

Garden Drive Speed Bumps-A Matter of Utmost Urgency
It is a matter of utmost urgency three to four speeds bumps are added to force traffic to slow down so, thank you for taking the Garden Drive speed bumps request seriously. Being with our grandchildren and enjoying the park together is a perk for our community, for all residents so, we are grateful! Until these speed bumps are added, Garden Drive’s racing traffic poses an ongoing threat to families and their children. Slowing traffic down with speed bumps can result in fewer accidents. The speed bumps will help reduce the severity of injuries that residents and their children may sustain in case there is a collision or crash. Relying on speed signs, traffic laws, and trusting motorist to abide is not enough. The installation of these speed bumps will be an effective way to slow the traffic down, and to improve the safety of our residents and their children. All parks residentially located should by default include additional safety measures for all to feel safe and to enjoy.

Separated Lane for Non-motorized use.
I live in this area and frequently run, walk and bike along Garden Drive and would like to a separated shared use path could be a shared use path protected by parked cars to narrow the lanes of travel. In my experience most of the time this street has few cars parked on it as all residence have garages with spacious driveways so the loss in parking will not be a big deal. My concern with just adding speed bumps is people tend to drive faster between speed bumps than they normally do and won't effectively calm traffic.

Sped bumps don't work on Primrose, what makes people think they will work on Garden Dr. If you want them by the park fine, not the whole st.

Add Roundabouts to some intersections on Garden Drive.
I know from experience running/walking along Garden Dr to Morning Glory drive people seem to speed up the hill with blind curve coming from Interstate 70 Dr NW to Garden Dr/Morning Glory intersection. I would like to see a roundabout at that intersection to slow drivers before they hit someone walking through the intersection. Primrose intersection is a similar situation with drivers going to/from Stadium blvd though it already includes a raised pavement which sort of helps but a roundabout or changing to a 4 way stop intersection would be better as larger trucks and SUV still speed over the raised pavement.

Garden Drive Speed Bumps
I have friends that live on Garden Drive and have witnessed first-hand the complete disregard for the speed limit by drivers traversing the street. In such a residential area, where children are at play, where people walk their dogs, and where neighborhood and city residents come to enjoy Valleyview Park, we cannot allow people to be driving so recklessly. It is just a matter of time before someone gets injured if we neglect to find a resolution. Placing several speed bumps along Garden Drive, especially in front of the park, could be one such resolution. Speed bumps have proven to be a very effective solution in other problem areas, and they could be the very thing that allows the friends and residents of Garden Drive to breathe a little easier and to better enjoy their little slice of CoMO.
